At Aikido Kenkyukai Santa Barbara, we’re always in need of volunteers and on Wednesday, President Obama announced a new initiative to encourage volunteerism in America. He asked Americans of all ages to volunteer at nonprofits and other organizations.
“I’m calling on all of you to make volunteerism and community service part of your daily life and the life of this nation,” said President Obama in a video release. “And when I say ‘all,’ I mean everyone – young and old, from every background, all across this country. We need individuals, community organizations, corporations, foundations, and our government to be part of this effort.”
On the White House Blog, Cammie Croft states,
“Since his Inauguration, the President has called on all Americans to serve our communities and be a part of building a better future for our country. And given this unique moment in our history with the unprecedented challenges we are facing, there isn’t a more important time than now for us to get involved.”
She inspires and motivates us further:
“We know that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things when empowered with the proper tools. It’s time to roll-up our sleeves and get to work.”
With over 1,000 nonprofit organizations in Santa Barbara, members of the community have a myriad of groups to choose from, Aikido Kenkyukai Santa Barbara being one of them. To get started right now, check out our volunteer opportunities here at Aikido Kenkyukai Santa Barbara:
