Currently, I am a psychology major and education minor over at UCSB. A few weeks ago, I took a position here at Aikido Kenkyukai Santa Barbara as a new intern, which has proven to be a tremendously fantastic position. I am truly surprised at the level of commitment and talent that everyone here has. Everyone from the young children, to the beginning adults, to the advanced adults all possess such a strong positive attitude and high level of commitment, it is absolutely incredible.
One of the most inspiring experiences I’ve had so far would have to be watching Lia Suzuki Sensei with the kids. What an incredibly talented woman and teacher. Not only did the kids absolutely adore every minute of class, the level that they were training at took me completely by surprise. It truly makes me want to become a better teacher and person.
I look forward to my upcoming months here at Aikido Kenkyukai, especially getting to know everyone involved here further, and learning even more than I already have in the past few weeks. Who knows, maybe one day soon I’ll be the one on that training mat!
