Diane Ben: My First Impressions of my Internship

I was first drawn to Aikido Kenkyukai Santa Barbara after reading about the Aiki Conflict Transformation program that Lia Sensei helped to develop. I really believed in the message that she was conveying with Aikido and wanted a chance to be a part of the change that she was implementing. After a couple of weeks here, I can see that the martial art of Aikido is more than just a sport or a good workout. It’s a community of dedicated and incredible people who are continually striving to promote good will and a healthy lifestyle.

I have already learned so much from my very short time here. Before starting my internship at Aikido Kenkyukai Santa Barbara, I thought that the only thing the internet consisted of was Facebook. Now I’m proud to say that I have ventured away from Facebook to discover all of the possibilities that the web can offer. It’s been a great experience so far and I look forward to doing further work with the dojo and am very excited to try my first aikido class.
