Werner Sensei was born in 1961 in Darmstadt, Germany. In 1997, he closed his business, a high-end motorcycle shop, and moved to the US. (Werner holds a German Automechanic Masters Degree.)
He began training Aikido in 2000 in Santa Barbara with Lia Suzuki Sensei. In 2004 he and his family moved to Whidbey Island, where he trained with Pierce Sensei of Aikido Seikikai for 2 years. In 2006 he moved back to Santa Barbara and resumed his training with Suzuki Sensei. He currently holds the rank of Shodan, 1st degree black belt, and plays an active role in leading the Beginners’ Class and the Teens’ Class.
