Basic Responsibilities

  1. Membership in Aikido Kenkyukai entitles one to practice and receive the full benefits of aikido training.  Monthly dues and the annual membership fee secure one’s membership in the dojo.
  2. Our dojo uses a third party billing service AAC. We do this to simplify the flow of funds and to separate the student-teacher relationship from the financial arrangement. If a student wishes to terminate his dojo membership, billing is stopped after 30 days written notice.  A handwritten signature and date are required.  The 30-day period is counted from the day of hand-delivery to the dojo or postmarked date.
    • Month to month agreement:
      • Adults: $100
      • Teens: $85
      • Children: $75
  3. An annual membership fee is sent directly to our headquarter dojo in Japan as a mere token of respect and gratitude for their continued support to us.
    • Annual membership fees:
      • Adults: $60 (white belts) / $75 (black belts)
      • Teens: $50
      • Children: $35
  4. Dues remain the same, regardless of the number of classes attended.
  5. Testing fees will be drafted from your account.
    • Testing fees are as follows:
      • Adults/Teens (5th - 3rd kyu): $45
      • Adults/Teens (2nd and 1st kyu): $55
      • Kids: $35
  6. There is no mat fee.  Visitors who wish to are welcome to make a voluntary donation in person or online at aksb.org.  (A visitor is someone who pays dues at another dojo.)
  7. Monthly dues do not cover the costs of special seminars, gasshuku, camps, etc.
  8. Dues are not refundable.
  9. Training while under the effects of any intoxicating substance, legal or illegal will be cause for immediate dismissal from the dojo.
  10. Students are required to wear a dogi (uniform) from no later than the second month of their training.  Dogi should be kept clean, mended, and should not be left in the dojo.
